Night Vision Goggle Research
In an effort to minimize the risk of ocular injuries from night vision goggles, research is being performed currently to examine the interaction of night vision goggles and the eye under impact conditions. The Virginia Tech Eye Model is being used to evaluate the complex interaction. The model results are verified with experimental impacts utilizing human cadaver tissue and surrogate models for the human eye. Protective countermeasures will be evaluated for infantry troops as well as pilots.
