Dr. H. Clay Gabler is recognized for his exceptional contributions to automotive safety in crash compatibility, side impact protection, and the use of event data recorders for crashworthiness research. His groundbreaking research in these areas has led to fundamental advances in our understanding of the injury risk in vehicle collisions and helped create the scientific foundation for efforts designed to mitigate these injuries. He is a past recipient of the Ralph R. Teetor Education Award (2004), the Ralph H. Isbrandt Automotive Safety Engineering Award (2005), and the Lloyd L. Withrow Distinguished Speaker Award (2008).
